Job Summary

Are you a Rheumatologist looking to join a dynamic team and to take an active part in shaping future Rheumatology services in North Cumbria? Why not consider joining us in our modern hospitals on the edge of the beautiful Lake District National Park?

NCIC is working in partnership with The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, offering opportunities to support rural and remote medicine and to help grow our own medical workforce within Cumbria.

The post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, but post holders may be required to work at other sites within the Trust. On‑calls within General Medicine would also be available if desired.

Relocation assistance of up to £8,000 may be available for successful applicants moving to the region.

Please note: You must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of your CCT in order to be eligible for appointment to this level of post.

Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care for all rheumatology patients, ranging from emergency to elective index cases.
  • Liaise with nursing, allied health, social work and administrative staff across the Trust.
  • Participate in training and appraisal processes, with an educational supervisor assigned to support development.
  • Adhere to and promote the Trust’s quality, safety, patient experience, diversity, sustainability and financial stewardship principles.
  • Take on on‑call and emergency cover as required.

Education and Qualifications
  • Full registration with the GMC.
