Job description
Consultant in Renal Medicine

We are recruiting a Consultant in Renal Medicine to join the team of 7 Nephrology Consultants, 2 Specialty Doctors and 12 Medics at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. The role covers our main Royal Stoke site and satellite units at County and Leighton Hospitals, offering all types of dialysis, transplant, CKD, home therapies, AKI and hypertension services.

The post holder will primarily lead the hypertension service, supporting its development, and contribute to the advanced kidney care service. Responsibilities include managing a cohort of haemodialysis patients at Royal Stoke Hospital and running a weekly general nephrology clinic. The Consultant will also engage in procedures, supervision and training of renal STs and trust grades, contribute to trainee education, quality improvement, research activities and clinical governance.

Our renal team has a strong research programme led by Professor Simon Davies and Dr Mark Lambie at the University of Keele Institute for Science and Technology for Medicine.

Qualifications
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine; CCT or CESR within 6 months of interview.
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
  • MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Specialty Certificate Examination
  • Experience in running a hypertension service
  • Experience in advanced kidney care service
