Calderdale Council are looking to recruit a dynamic andtalented Consultant in Public Health/ Public Health Medicine(registered as a Public Health Specialist with the GeneralMedical Council, General Dental Council or UK PublicHealth Register). As a Senior Officer working at AssistantDirector level, the postholder will play a key role in helpinglead a hugely ambitious Council.
Determined to ensure our work with communitiesis effective, we collaborate, innovate and adapt in achallenging environment to improve the health and
wellbeing of residents. Central to this are our two keystrategic plans, the Wellbeing Strategy and the InclusiveEconomy Strategy. The post holder will join a publichealth leadership team that is focussed on delivering theambitions set out in both strategies and provides leadershipacross the system. As a relatively small local authority,you will have opportunities to take place-based lead roleson programmes and will have direct access to ElectedMembers on a regular basis.
Calderdale’s Public Health Team sits at the heart of theCouncil in the Chief Executive’s Directorate and has aPeople and Places focus. It leads Calderdale’s innovativeFamily Hubs and Active Calderdale Programmes. This isan exciting opportunity for the right candidate to providesystem leadership for health and wellbeing and reducinghealth inequalities in Calderdale, with a particular focuson children and young people and health protection.Members of the team share a passion for communitycentred public health, addressing the core determinantsof health inequalities and joining up health, care andwellbeing services to improve lives.
