Job description
Overview

Applications are invited to apply for a substantive Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This post offers 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available, but these are subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.

There are 14 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 5 Specialist Trainees and 11 Trust Doctors at registrar level. There is a 2 tier registrar rota during the day and night. The approximate number of births is around 4,000.

Responsibilities
  • Act as deputy lead for the gynaecological oncology service.
  • Participate in Consultant Labour Ward and emergency gynaecology cover, including on-call as per the rota.
  • Support teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham, and support colleagues in these activities as part of the arranged job plan.
  • Engage with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
  • Participate in 1 in 13 on-call rota commitments including Labour Ward hot week (8.00-18.00 hours) and Emergency Gynae hot week (8.00-13.00 hrs) (1 in 15, AM session only).
Qualifications
  • ATSM/SITM in gynaecological oncology at a minimum.
  • Good general obstetrics and gynaecology skills.
  • Motivated and committed to work with local managers and professional colleagues.
