A prominent NHS foundation trust is seeking a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine to join its team. The role focuses on adult critical care with opportunities to work in associated specialties. The ideal candidate should have clinical training in Intensive Care Medicine, full GMC registration, and willingness to engage in teaching. This full-time position offers a supportive environment in Crewe with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
The closing date is 17 December 2025
Applications are invited to join our forward-thinking, friendly department in Critical Care with the option of an associated specialty in either Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Respiratory Medicine at Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be based at Leighton Hospital in the leafy Cheshire countryside near Crewe and Nantwich— a beautiful Cheshire market town.
Within thirty minutes of the hospital are innumerable pretty towns and villages to reside in, plus beautiful walking and cycling routes at your door. There are also a great number of schools in the surrounding area with high Ofsted ratings in both the Independent and State Sectors.
The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise. The applicant must also be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training.
The post is offered on a full-time basis; however, the Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
Shortlisted candidates will be expected to visit the department prior to interview.
The proposed AAC date is 21.01.2026.
The post's emphasis for clinical work will be on Adult Critical Care and either Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Anaesthesia.
This is a fabulous opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor to join the teams to enhance links and share expertise across specialties.
The new consultant will join the existing team of e Consultants providing medical cover for the Critical Care Unit, who work closely together and act as a very supportive group with a determined ethos.
The spacious Critical Care Unit located adjacent to the theatre suite, was opened 8 years ago and has recently been expanded to provide an integrated 18 bedded area with four potential isolation rooms and the ability to cohort into a four-bedded area separate from the main unit.
This exciting opportunity also allows the successful candidate to widen their interest in one of the specified specialty areas, alongside dedicated teams of consultants who are focused on improving outcomes and patient experience.
