A leading health organization in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced professional to provide clinical leadership for acute medical teams. You will manage patient care, conduct ward rounds, and contribute to teaching and governance activities. Ideal candidates will have appropriate clinical qualifications and experience. APs will provide clinical leadership and direction for the multi professional team in the management of the acute medical patients. It is expected that they will lead ward rounds, direct the management of patients, perform practical procedures, teach both junior medical and other staff, attend multidisciplinary meetings, take part in the governance activity of the department, participate in the management and administration of the service and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the Health Board as required.
The Acute Medicine consultants are responsible for ‘real time’ consultant reviews of new admissions throughout the day.
Patients are seen in SDEC, AMU or ED depending on capacity and clinical need.
In addition to the two consultants working 08.00-16.00, two additional consultants join the team at 14.00, working until 21.00.
The average number of new admissions between 12.00 and 20.00 varies from 30 to 45 patients.
