Job description
Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist Surgeon

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust wish to recruit an 8.83PA Consultant Gynaecological Oncology surgeon. The position is designed to provide gynaecological oncology operating lists and clinics, along with rapid access clinics to ensure the Trust's adherence to cancer target treatment times and the faster diagnostic standard.

In addition, surgical support for complex obstetrics is included within the job plan for complex caesarean sections and management of women with abnormally invasive placentas. The on call commitment is non-resident, with a frequency of 1:7.

The Consultant interview panel (AAC) will be held on 2nd April 2026.

Main duties of the job

This post is 8.83PA and includes 1.5 SPA for revalidation, rapid access lead clinician and results endorsement lead role.

Of the direct clinical care sessions, 2.74 are dedicated to major operating lists, 0.91 to supporting the placenta accreta service (providing and planning complex surgical support), 0.7 to joining the Gynaecological Oncology MDT and 2.47 to Gynaecological Oncology and Rapid Access Clinics, including dedicated administrative time (0.9375 PA). On call activity is 1:7 and is non-resident.

Job responsibilities

This is a 8.83 PA Consultant Gynaecology Oncology Surgeon post.

7.33 DCC PAs per week (including predictable and unpredictable emergency work, operating lists, surgical support for the abnormally invasive placenta service, rapid access clinics, gynaecological oncology clinics, MDTs and administrative time).

Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications
  • On GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
  • On GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
  • Appropriate Royal College Membership
Knowledge/ Skills
  • Sub-speciality accreditation for Gynaecological Oncology with at least 2 years of experience at consultant level
  • IT Skills and computer literacy
Leadership/ Management Skills
  • Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
  • Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
  • Knowledge of finance/budgets
  • Management of staff
Teaching & Training
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
Audit
  • Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Academic achievement
  • Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
