Job description
Job summary

Applicants are invited for a substantive full‑time (1.0 WTE) consultant musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologist post with an interest in major trauma imaging. The position has arisen due to expansion of the service and reconfiguration of the existing MSK imaging team. The appointment offers an opportunity to strengthen an established team of MSK radiologists, some of whom also support major trauma services.

Main duties of the work

The successful candidate will have completed formal training in general radiology and will have experience in MSK and major trauma imaging. Approximately 60% of the time will be dedicated to MSK subspecialty work including ultrasound, cross‑sectional imaging, image‑guided procedures, MDTs and plain‑film reporting. The appointee will also contribute to the general workload, including duty “hot desk” reporting, general CT and plain radiographs. Part of this will take the form of an extended day (Monday to Friday, 5 pm – 8 pm) and regular evening sessions. Supporting professional activities will include 2 PA sessions per week. One core SPA (CPD, statutory training, governance) and one discretionary SPA, one of which must be on site.

Supporting Professional Activities

Site for each activity will be finalised across the three main sites (CXH, HH and SMH) after appointment of the post. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to undertake sessions at one of the new CDCs.
