Job description
Overview

We are currently seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our supportive department. The role is a whole‑time consultant with a 10.5 PA clinical job plan and a 5% salary uplift for non‑resident on‑call commitment (1:8 covering theatres and level 2 critical care services).

Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthesia for complex orthopaedic procedures, including revision arthroplasty, musculoskeletal oncology surgery, spinal surgery (degenerative and deformity), and interventional radiology.
  • Cover theatres, pre‑operative assessment sessions and resident high‑dependency rota.
  • Contribute to peri‑operative medicine, regional anaesthesia and critical care outreach.
  • Participate in teaching for a peri‑operative medicine module for Aston University and support development of clinical governance, research and management.
Qualifications
  • Consultant level anaesthesia practitioner with a 10.5 PA plan.
  • Interest in peri‑operative medicine, complex orthopaedics and regional anaesthesia.
  • Accreditation of Clinical Services in Anaesthesia (ACSA) within two years (Accreditation of Clinical Services in Anaesthesia via the Royal College of Anaesthetists) is desirable.
