Location

UK-based with frequent travel with an expectation of between 25-50% of time to be spent in country working on site, programme depending.

Role

G3 Systems are seeking a project manager with construction experience to lead, coordinate, and successfully deliver international construction projects, ensuring that design, procurement, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and execution align with UK standards in an austere environment.

Responsibilities
  • To lead the project from a site perspective, facilitating clear communication, leadership and guidance. Taking responsibility for the co-ordination of the site team, their activities and welfare
  • Develop and manage the project execution plan (PEP), master programme, and risk register.
  • Lead cross-border coordination between UK design / engineering teams and international site delivery teams.
  • Ensure the project aligns with client requirements, local constraints, and international best practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with UK and foreign national stakeholders, local communities and contractors.
  • Facilitate regular progress meetings across time zones using digital collaboration tools.
  • Manage communication channels to ensure transparency and timely decision-making.
  • Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and specialist services from local and international suppliers.
  • Work with commercial teams to monitor budgets, cost forecasts, variations, and contractor claims.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, particularly related to logistics, security, political environment, and supply chains.
  • Champion a safety-first culture on site and within the UK project team.
  • Conduct regular HSE reviews (on-site during travel and virtually).
  • Ensure quality control plans are implemented and audited.
  • Review construction progress, workmanship, and compliance with design.
  • Provide accurate progress reports, dashboards, and KPIs to senior management and clients.
  • Maintain clear audit trails, contracts, and documentation across both jurisdictions.
  • Use project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Aconex).
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects (UK or international).
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (APM, PRINCE2, or PMP preferred).
  • Experience working in developing or emerging markets (Africa desirable).
  • Strong stakeholder and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary and multinational teams.
  • Experience working with NEC ECC contracts
  • Resilient, adaptable, and culturally aware.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working across time zones and managing remote teams.
  • High professional integrity and commitment to safety.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional membership desirable (RICS, ICE, CIOB, APM).
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel regularly.
  • Security and cultural awareness training beneficial.
