Qualifications

Job Title : Construction Manager

Location : Swindon (Western Region)

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 plus Car Allowance

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the water industry's most critical challenges while developing your expertise across data, network operations, and strategic resolution planning. Onsite is part of the South Staffordshire Group - a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses - offering long‑term development and career progression.

As Construction Manager, you will lead day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification. You will provide technical guidance, coordinate resources, maintain strong client relationships, and drive continuous improvement across all activities.

This is a hands‑on leadership position that requires confidence on site, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety, quality, and team development.

The Role
  • Lead daily site operations, ensuring work is safely, efficiently, and correctly delivered.
  • Monitor performance, carry out site audits, and resolve issues proactively.
  • Provide technical support to teams and clients.
  • Promote and enforce safe systems of work, delivering inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Record and report Near Misses and ensure full compliance with H&S procedures.
  • Support and develop team members, managing performance and training needs.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide clear, accurate updates.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with planning, scheduling, and contract oversight.
What you’ll need
  • Strong communicator with effective problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Experienced in rail environments, with track renewal / drainage knowledge.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant field.
  • Confident leading teams and promoting safe working practices.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Full UK Driving Licence, PTS, and SMSTS essential.
