Specialist Reinforced Concrete (RC) Structures and Groundwork Subcontractor
I am looking for someone who is either already a Construction Director / Operations Director with a strong background working for rival RC structures and groundwork subcontractors in the UK, or someone who has hit a glass ceiling in their current role and is ready for the next step up to Construction Director level (from a Senior Contracts Manager or similar position at a rival contractor).
If you have worked in this sector at either level, you will know what is involved in day-to-day duties. Your position will sit alongside the top-level leadership and report to the owner while overseeing operations across multiple live sites where concrete structures, groundwork, and civils packages are being completed (package values range from £1m to £10m each). You will be expected to oversee and develop site-based management and teams while integrating with the company’s clients to ensure projects are carried out effectively. While programme deadlines, budgets, and safety on every site are crucial, you will also be a senior member of the team responsible for developing client relationships and driving continuous improvement.
It is important to note that you won’t be doing all of this alone—the team works together.
Based in Buckinghamshire (just off the M25), this privately owned business specializes in the construction of reinforced concrete structures and associated groundwork packages, working for major civil engineering main contractors or schemes such as HS2. They turnover around £20 million per annum, with sensible plans to grow by around £5-£10m per annum. They offer a modern image with a very nice office, excellent in-house capability, and high standards for quality. They own their own building, plant, formwork, and more. Directors focus on investing back into the business to provide security, better working conditions, and future growth. This is a very exciting business to work for.
On a personal note, the owner has built a reputable business focused on solving clients’ problems and is looking to expand the senior team while sharing the benefits of success with those on the journey.
To be successful, I am looking for individuals who have worked in this position or are ready for this position, with a strong background in concrete structures, groundwork, and civils subcontracting in the UK. The client requires stable employment history with each employer, as this role is important and they want long-term commitments. Candidates should be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management.
This is a director-level role with ownership of your department and a seat at the table to influence the business’s future. The package will reflect the level of responsibility. I am open to considering current salary and benefits versus what you are seeking, including the possibility of company shares.
I am available to discuss this opportunity by phone or in person in a confidential manner. This is a discreet sector, and confidentiality is understood. Ideally, I would like to see a copy of your CV to understand your experience. In line with GDPR, nothing will be acted upon until we have discussed the role in detail. Your past experience will help inform future conversations.
