IT & Computing Lecturer Further Education

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced IT & Computing Lecturer to join a thriving FE team, delivering high-quality teaching across a range of programmes from Entry Level to Level 3, including BTEC, apprenticeships, and blended/online learning.

The Role

You’ll deliver engaging and industry-aligned teaching in IT and Computing, covering areas such as programming, cyber security, systems, software development and more. You will support learners aged and adults, contribute to curriculum development, act as a tutor, and maintain excellent standards of assessment, quality and learner progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess across a range of IT & Computing qualifications including BTEC, Apprenticeships and potentially HNC/D programmes.
  • Deliver high-quality sessions in programming (Python/Java), software development, cyber security, hardware/software systems, networking and web development.
  • Develop schemes of work, produce innovative learning materials, support blended/online learning, and maintain accurate course records.
  • Act as personal tutor for IT learners, providing pastoral and academic support.
  • Work with employers, awarding bodies, internal/external moderators and verifiers to ensure excellent standards of delivery and assessment.
  • Contribute to curriculum design to meet industry needs and national requirements.
What You’ll Need
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Strong competence in programming (Python, Java), cyber security, systems, and a wide range of IT applications including Access, Excel and information systems.
  • Experience teaching IT courses up to Level 3 or Higher Education.
  • Strong organisational, communication and digital skills, with an understanding of FE safeguarding and equality requirements.
