Job summary

Compliance Advisor

Salary: £31,235 - £39,044 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm

Location: Buckden Landfill, PE19 5UH

As a Compliance Advisor at FCC Environment, you will provide expert advice and guidance to site managers, ensuring environmental compliance across multiple designated facilities. You will play a key role in monitoring, reporting, and improving environmental performance, as well as building strong relationships with regulators.

This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Advising and guiding site managers to achieve compliance with environmental permits and legislation
  • Ensuring environmental monitoring and reporting are completed as scheduled
  • Developing and delivering plans to manage and control environmental compliance issues, including leachate management
  • Supporting the management of contractors and procurement of environmental infrastructure
  • Producing technical and environmental reports for regulators
  • Conducting site environmental inspections and audits
  • Liaising with the Environment Agency and other stakeholders
  • Responding to public complaints and maintaining records
  • Updating site environmental procedures and supporting continuous improvement
What are we looking for?
  • Preferably educated to degree level or with a proven track record in an environmental or leachate role
  • Experience using environmental monitoring equipment and report writing
  • Experience in the waste industry and/or environmental monitoring (preferred)
  • Membership of CIWM (beneficial)
  • Strong reputation for delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operational, environmental, and managerial staff
  • Initiative and willingness to take responsibility for regular site work
  • Resilience and ability to manage third parties effectively
  • Strong communication skills, including with regulators and stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver added value
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
