About MacIntyre Academies

MacIntyre Academies is a Special Academy Trust providing state education to children and young people with autism and additional needs. We currently operate four academies across Oxford, Nuneaton, and Henley‑in‑Arden, each dedicated to supporting learners with various special educational needs.

Role Overview

The Compassionate Schools Coach will support learners in developing effective strategies for emotional self‑regulation, enabling them to fully engage in the learning, care, and support available within the school environment. The role also involves leading debriefing sessions with learners and staff following incidents, fostering a reflective and supportive culture. You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training and professional development to help you thrive in this vital role.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized emotional regulation plans for learners.
  • Conduct debriefing sessions with learners and staff after incidents.
  • Provide reflective support and guidance to build a positive school culture.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to incorporate self‑regulation strategies into everyday practice.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
  • Encourage physical fitness and promote reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience supporting learners with autism or other special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of emotional self‑regulation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Physically fit to manage challenging behaviours where necessary.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
