Job description
Overview

We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals to join our Community Resilience team at SECAmb as Community Resuscitation Officers on a fixed term contract (18 months). This role offers the opportunity to help save lives, tackle health inequalities, and build stronger, safer communities.

As a Community Resuscitation Officer, you will work with local communities, schools, workplaces, faith groups, and voluntary organisations to embed best practice for cardiac arrest survival within the community. There will be a strong focus on teaching and promoting Basic Life Support (BLS) and defibrillation skills. You will also support the maintenance and development of Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and contribute to national and local initiatives such as Restart a Heart, Junior Citizen, and Safety in Action. You will play a vital part in SECAmb\'s ambition to improve out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates and reduce health inequalities across the region, particularly in areas of greatest need.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and inclusive BLS and defibrillation training to schools, colleges, community groups, and workplaces.
  • Identify and focus on communities at higher risk of poor health outcomes, including those affected by deprivation, language barriers, or social isolation.
  • Support the maintenance and optimisation of SECAmb\'s PAD network and work with communities to develop new opportunities for access to defibrillators.
  • Promote the importance of bystander CPR and the chain of survival, helping to build public confidence to act in emergencies.
  • Work in partnership with volunteers, community organisations, and national programmes to maximise impact.
  • Contribute to audits, research, and reporting on the outcomes of community resuscitation initiatives.
  • Travel across the Trust\'s geographical area; flexibility is essential.
Role scope and requirements

The Community Resuscitation Officer is responsible for supporting defined groups (including geographical communities, charity-based groups, schools and other educational environments, youth groups, and faith groups) with developing a community-based focus on basic life support and resuscitation, with the aim of reducing health inequalities and improving survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Additional information on the role, including the salary and terms, can be found in the job description.
