Job Summary

Are you a dedicated midwife passionate about maternity vaccinations? Our new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) has now opened its doors, and we are seeking experienced community midwives to join us as maternity vaccinators.

Main Duties of the Job

Experience of community‑based midwifery care is desirable but not essential. A midwife vaccinator will run clinics from our hubs and a twilight service once per week from MMUH antenatal clinic 12‑8 pm. Successful candidates will be required to up‑skill on vaccinating for seasonal flu, COVID‑19, pertussis and RSV with a good understanding of cold‑chain storage best practices. You will be part of a supportive team, have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously where required to increase vaccine uptake. Training can be provided for up‑skilling (if required) and if you have particular interest in developing an area of your practice we will endeavour to accommodate this.

Qualifications
  • Registered Midwife on part 2 of the NMC professional register
  • Degree/diploma relevant to speciality
  • Mentor/assessor training or willingness to work towards
Desirable Qualifications
  • Examination of the newborn course
Experience
  • Relevant post‑registration experience in continuous clinical practice
  • Successfully completed a preceptorship programme
  • Evidence of working in all areas of midwifery
  • Evidence of a well‑documented and up‑to‑date CPD portfolio
  • Ability to work autonomously within professional and Trust guidelines
  • Experience/evidence of coordinating a maternity ward/clinical/community area
  • Able to take the professional lead in caring for low‑risk women
  • Counselling skills
