Severn Wye is seeking compassionate and proactive individuals to advocate and support vulnerable people in their homes and the community, helping them overcome barriers to accessing energy services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a non-judgemental approach.
These essential roles are central to our mission, offering compassionate, practical support to individuals across South Gloucestershire. You’ll visit people in their homes, provide advice by phone, and engage with the wider community at local events. Your work will make a meaningful impact—helping individuals navigate energy challenges with empathy, clear guidance, and a deep understanding of the support available.
While our preference is for full-time roles, we are open to flexible working arrangements and will consider reduced hours minimum 22.5hrs per week for the right candidate. Please include your preferred working pattern in your application.
As a Community-based Energy Adviser, you will play a vital role in supporting and advocating for individuals and families—many of whom are vulnerable—helping them resolve energy-related challenges. Working in people’s homes and at community events, you’ll provide practical advice on reducing energy costs, applying to trust funds, managing meter issues, and using smart technology. You’ll guide clients through accessing support, managing debt, and building long-term resilience. While the role can be emotionally demanding, it is deeply rewarding—you’ll empower people with the knowledge and confidence to take control of their energy use, improve their wellbeing, and make a lasting, positive difference. A DBS check will be needed for the role and Severwnye will pay for this
