Job summary

A leading UK university in Southampton is seeking a Communities Curator to join the Engagement & Learning team. The role involves coordinating community programs and developing projects with artists. Candidates should have experience in engagement within contemporary art and strong multi-tasking skills. Overview

Location: Studio 144, Above Bar Street, Southampton, SO14 7DU.

Helping to deliver our innovative programme for schools, colleges, community groups, families and young people, the Communities Curator will be part of the Engagement & Learning team at John Hansard Gallery. John Hansard Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery, part of the University of Southampton and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. The Communities Curator will co-ordinate the JHG Ambassadors Programme and help establish the Beacons Programme for entry-level creative employees. They will generate new projects with and alongside community and artists, feeding into fresh approaches to co-creation and socially engaged practices.

The role requires experience in a similar role and environment, with a good knowledge of engagement and learning within a contemporary art setting. Experience of multi-tasking and outreach work is important.
