Commissioning Manager - University of Bristol Project

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead a live project through to final delivery. You will be working alongside an established on‑site team employed directly by the University of Bristol, taking responsibility for commissioning activities through to handover. This is a full‑time, on‑site role for the remainder of the project.

Rate: £550 per day, Umbrella PAYE (Inside IR35)

Location: Bristol – local or commutable candidates strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation to Commissioning and Close‑Out
  • Monitor installation for compliance and readiness for testing and commissioning.
  • Produce, issue and manage commissioning progress reports.
  • Attend MEP progress meetings and drive close‑out actions.
  • Organise and chair internal commissioning meetings with the project team and the supply chain.
  • Attend and represent at client commissioning meetings.
  • Run commissioning workshops with specialist contractors.
  • Lead the development and approval of testing and commissioning methodologies.
  • Coordinate internal and third‑party witnessing, training and familiarisation.
  • Review completed test documentation, compile test packs and manage approval.Plan and manage Soft Landings requirements.
Pre‑Commissioning / Commissioning Delivery
  • Maintain and update the commissioning programme in line with the integrated schedule.
  • Oversee ISTs and performance testing activities.
  • Attend Soft Landings meetings and workshops.
  • Manage commissioning specialists across supply chain partners.
  • Review completed commissioning documentation and manage approval.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven background as a Commissioning Manager in building services / MEP environments.
  • Experience on hospital, healthcare or educational facility projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning standards, documentation and close‑out procedures.
  • Ability to lead multiple stakeholders and technical specialists.Based locally to Bristol or within a reasonable commute.
  • LTHW system flushing, fire alarm commissioning and lighting control commissioning are already progressing. You will take ownership of the remaining delivery and ensure a controlled, compliant handover.
