Job summary

A leading engineering firm is looking for a Commissioning Engineer to oversee commissioning activities for an offshore project starting ASAP. This role involves managing commissioning schedules, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring project milestones are met. Candidates should have experience in transmission substations and must be comfortable leading a team. The position offers a competitive daily rate of £860 for 12 months, on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule.

Commissioning Engineer

Role: Commissioning Engineer

Location: Offshore - embarkment from the Port of Tees

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 12‑Months (2 weeks on/2 weeks off)

Rates: £860 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via PAYE Umbrella - post AWR rate from day 1, no increase after 12 weeks.

Clearance: BPSS (DBS/DS, Financial Probity, Employment History) + Medical Questionnaire & Proof of Right to Work in the UK

Responsibilities
  • Oversee commissioning activities from PC ensuring all commissioning is completed on schedule.
  • Engage with stakeholders in regular joint commissioning meetings.
  • Deal with the ESO when requiring EON/ION.
  • Work with the completions department to ensure the correct flow from construction to commission takes place.
  • Apply commissioning protection settings to the circuit during the commissioning phase and restore afterwards.
  • Ability to fault find on protection circuits including interrogation of relays.
  • Create Commissioning switching programs/schedules to ensure all aspects of commissioning is captured.
  • Provide weekly reports to management.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as Lead Commissioning engineer.
  • Experience working within Transmission substations.
  • Previous experience dealing with NG ESO / NGET.
  • NG Persons authorization would be beneficial.
  • Comfortable at leading a Team through the commissioning phase of the project.
