An engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a System Handover/Commissioning Engineer to oversee commissioning activities at a significant nuclear power project. You will coordinate with installation teams and manage handover processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership and analytical skills, along with experience in fast-paced engineering environments. A professional qualification in project management is desirable but not essential.
The System Handover/Commissioning Engineer is a key role in ensuring delivery of all construction and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package wajen accordance with the overall Project schedule. The Engineer will ensure Handover and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time parameters to meet the needs of the Project. The System Handover Engineer reports directly to the OCC Manager and is responsible for the direction of activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a contract or work package assigned to them.
You will be part of a team that is responsible to coordinate and deliver systems and work scopes from the Installation programme to the Commissioning programme and onwards to the Operations team.
As a member of the Commissioning team, you'll play a key role in the Delivery and handover of systems and equipment which are at the heart of one of the UK's most significant engineering projects. Working closely with the project equipment installers and completions group, you'll help deliver systems and equipment that are critical to the plant's operation. The nature of the role is to provide support to the OCC Manager and Senior Handover Engineer along with the wider OCC team while also working independently in some areas to ensure the effective delivery of Systems and equipment form the Installation programme, while recognising and managing any issues, delays or impacts on the wider Project schedule. Your ability to build effective relationships across programme boundaries will be extremely important - particularly with the Completions Team and the MEH Alliance.
Be a 'people person' comfortable with working in a fast paced, complex heavy engineering environment under pressure situations. An ability to form strong relationships in timebound project environment is essential.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of leadership and its application in complex projects. Working knowledge of CDM Regulations. Proficient numeracy, analytical and critical reasoning skills. Proficient application of scheduling, programming, risk and planning tools. Well-developed IT and organisational skills.
Demonstrated project experience in: In-field walkdown execution with Multi-discipline Installation teams, possess a grounded understanding of various discipline work scopes.
Working knowledge and significant experience of Completions and handover strategies and processes. Successful experience in working with multi-level stakeholder contractors in a regulated environment. Experience working with NEC and DMIC/FIDIC type commercial contracts.
Desirable: Hold a Professional Qualification in Project Management such as APM PPQ or other recognised qualification. A Degree or similar qualification in engineering, construction or related field is desirable but not essential.
