We are a major supplier to the construction industry of 120 million high-quality bricks a year. Our concrete bricks have evolved to be a sustainable alternative to traditional clay bricks. We are part of the Marshalls Group, a FTSE 250 company and a self-described Superbrand for the 13th year running.

Role summary

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to join the National House Builder Team. This is a sales role (no direct reports) with responsibility for identifying sales opportunities and nurturing relationships. You will develop an effective Business Plan to achieve sales budgets, improve the efficiency of sales processes, and monitor, report on, and achieve KPIs. You will also support our pricing structure. The role involves attending regular meetings across your region and preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly forecasts to support planning.

Reporting to the Trading Director, this is a high-impact role responsible for driving growth and profitability across key customer relationships. You will manage and expand partnerships with National Housebuilder customers and stakeholders.

This is a results-driven, commercially focused position where expertise in developing and managing trading agreements is crucial to maximise outcomes aligned with our wider business objectives. You will represent the business at customer events and reviews, strengthen long-term partnerships, and ensure our presence is valued and influential. You will also contribute to shaping the wider sales strategy and initiatives that deliver sustainable growth and support Marshalls’ future success.

The role carries responsibility to maintain and grow, in line with ambitious business and budget expectations, sales of external bricks and masonry products for the division. This area has shown strong growth and momentum should be carried forward with ambitious targets.

What are the mission-critical skills?
  • Strong experience within the National Housebuilder & construction sector, with an existing network of industry contacts.
  • Experience in the Bricks & Masonry market (or wider construction industry) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving profitability.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Expertise in negotiating and contract management with the ability to secure favourable trading agreements.
  • Commercially astute with strong financial and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills and problem-solving abilities. You will be confident and persuasive with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn new ranges and understand bricks & masonry routes to market.
  • Full driving licence required.
