Job description
Commercial Business Analyst

This role is within Thames Water Commercial and offers an excellent development opportunity for candidates with commercial experience and a strong numerical background. The position encourages progression into wider Thames Water business streams and attracts analytical talent for other business streams.

The Water industry is transforming towards a more competitive market – the biggest change since privatisation.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain, cleanse and analyse large data files to provide insight on historical spend and identify opportunities in cost and operational efficiency. Provide future demand information when required.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and present findings to the stakeholder group.
  • Develop commercial models, pricing templates and bid sheets for sourcing initiatives, using existing templates or creating new models.
  • Support sourcing recommendations by providing commercial analysis of final costs versus budgets and baseline outlined in the sourcing strategy, evidencing additional business value.
  • Regularly engage with stakeholders to elicit information and define the scope of analysis.
  • Provide support to internal and external supplier meetings to explain data analysis as requested.
  • Support the Analytics team to champion technology, embed systems and run training sessions for the Commercial and wider business.

Base location – Hybrid – Clear Water Court, Reading.
36 hours a week.

What you should bring to the role
  • Degree in a numerical field such as Accountancy, Business Degree, Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in a previous organisation in a similar role.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to prioritise/multitask to produce deliverables efficiently.
  • Good understanding of a commercial business and relevant functional area experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Visual Basic to create macros.
