Overview

Colchester United Community Foundation (CUCF) have an exciting opportunity available for a GK Coach to support the Colchester United Women’s Team.

If you’re a GK Coach with experience and/or passion for the female game alongside working in senior women’s football, this is an opportunity to join our Women’s Coaching Team and contribute to the women’s pathway at the club.

This role is for a highly motivated, ambitious football coach who will work with the Women’s Team Committee, Head Coach and other Coaching Staff to plan and deliver GK training, manage players, support recruitment and contribute on matchdays. You may also contribute to the Matchday Programme, fan engagement and club engagements as required.

This position is a key appointment within the Women’s & Girl’s pathway. You will need tenacity, creativity to overcome obstacles, and you will have a role in the success and positive impact our work has on colleagues, players, their families, fans and our communities. You will be expected to lead, inspire and motivate on and off the pitch.

A successful candidate must be available to commit to the below times and able to travel to the venue as often as possible:

  • Training – Wednesday (7:30-9:30pm) at Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, Colchester (CO2 9BG).
  • Matchdays – Sundays (2pm kick-offs). Home Games at Colchester Garrison (CO2 7SZ) and away games at venues across the Eastern Region Division 1.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • FA Introduction to Coaching Award
  • Background in GK Coaching/Playing
  • FA Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF)
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • Willing to complete a CUFC Enhanced DBS Check
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
  • Experience coaching in the Senior Women’s Game and understanding the needs of female athletes

Essential Qualifications & Experience (continued):

  • UEFA C Coaching Award (or currently enrolled on the course)
  • FA National GK Coaching Award (or currently enrolled on the course / expression of interest to join the course)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Develop

  • Develop positive and effective relationships with colleagues, volunteers, players, committee members and supporters on and off the pitch during training and matchdays.

Deliver

  • Deliver high-quality coaching and matchday experiences for goalkeepers (GKs).

Support

  • Support recruitment, development and increased engagement of GKs towards individual and collective KPI’s.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive team culture.

Collaborate

  • Collaborate with colleagues, players and committee members to maximise the impact and development of first team GKs and the team.

Evaluate

  • Evaluate development and the impact of coaching through individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Evaluate impact and success of GKs and the team by showcasing achievements.
