The Role

We\'re looking for a hands-on Machine Shop Foreman / Supervisor to lead and support our skilled workshop team. This is not a desk-based role — you\'ll be actively involved on the shop floor, helping engineers solve machining challenges and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in precision engineering, with experience in either CNC milling/programming (3 & 4 axis) OR conventional/manual machining, such as manual milling, turning, or horizontal boring.

You\'ll act as a key point of contact on the workshop floor, using your expertise to support with problem-solving, oversee quality, and help drive efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and technical support to engineers in the machine shop
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and assist with setup, tooling, or programming queries
  • Ensure jobs are progressing on time and to the highest standards
  • Step in to assist with machining when needed (CNC or manual)
  • Support other departments when required - e.g. assisting the quality inspection team with measurement and inspection tasks to help meet tight deadlines
  • Monitor quality, workflow, and performance across the shop floor
  • Help implement process improvements and promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Liaise with management and engineering teams on capacity, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and productive working environment
What We\'re Looking For
  • Extensive background in precision engineering - CNC or manual machining
  • Experience in CNC programming and milling or conventional machining (manual milling, turning, boring)
  • Confident reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings and tolerances
  • Strong leadership qualities and a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Natural problem solver with a high level of technical knowledge
  • Someone who leads by example and supports others when needed
  • Organised and calm under pressure, with a keen eye for quality and detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of accountability
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • Unlimited, optional overtime - excellent earning potential
  • Monday to Friday working hours with early Friday finish
  • A varied and engaging role in a growing, multi-disciplinary business
  • Supportive team culture and opportunities to develop your leadership skills
  • Exposure to a wide variety of projects across multiple industries

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced machinist or programmer looking to step into a leadership role — or for someone already supervising who wants to join a forward-thinking and dynamic company. If you have the experience, confidence, and leadership skills to take on this challenge, we\'d love to hear from you
