Job summary

A leading quality management services provider in Coventry is seeking an experienced Inspector or CMM Programmer to carry out inspection duties and ensure product quality. You will verify initial sample inspection reports, program CMM machines, and ensure compliance with engineering standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in precision engineering, particularly in automotive, and possesses strong communication skills. This position offers competitive pay at £24 per hour and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an inspection or quality control role within precision engineering or automotive.
  • Strong CMM programming skills, ideally in Calypso or PC-DMIS.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Verify supplier ISIRs, including dimensional, material, or process-related checks.
  • Liaise with Engineering, SQA, and Quality teams to resolve product or supplier issues.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out general inspection duties as directed by the Principal Inspector and as detailed on Product Inspection Requests (PIRs)
  • Verify supplier ISIRs (Initial Sample Inspection Reports), including dimensional, material, or process‑related checks
  • Liaise with Engineering, SQA, and Quality teams to resolve product or supplier issues
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to create ISIR documentation
  • Use hand measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and shadowgraphs
  • Program CMM machines (Calypso or PC‑DMIS software preferred) for F1 product inspections
  • Support the use of 3D scanning and surface finish equipment (experience desirable but not essential)
  • Maintain accurate and timely inspection records and documentation
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping and contribute to continuous improvement across the business
  • Support other teams with measurement or quality‑related issues as required
About You
  • Proven experience in an inspection or quality control role within precision engineering or automotive / manufacturing
  • Strong CMM programming skills (Calypso or PC‑DMIS ideal)
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Hands‑on experience with manual measurement tools
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Knowledge or experience of working with F1 or motorsport components is advantageous

Monday to Friday 08:00am - 4:45pm / Fri 08:00am -3:00pm
