Join Our Team as a Band 6 Ward Sister / Charge Nurse

Are you a motivated and enthusiastic nurse with a passion for delivering exceptional care? We have an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Ward Sisters / Charge Nurses to join our welcoming inpatient teams at Brentwood, Billericay, and Thurrock Community Hospitals.

As a key member of our team, you will :

• Lead by example as a positive role model, inspiring staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care.
• Work closely with patients, families, and our multi-disciplinary team to provide individualised rehabilitation pathways, supporting independence and successful transitions back home or to alternative accommodation.
• Collaborate with the Ward Manager to assess, plan, and evaluate care, ensuring accurate documentation and a strong rehabilitation focus.
• Take charge of shifts and participate in internal rotation (days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays).
• Manage the ward out of hours as the senior clinician.

Main duties of the job

Leadership

• Deputise for the Ward Manager when required and represent the ward at meetings.
• Assist with investigations, reporting, risk management, and escalation.
• Contribute to budget awareness and roster management.
• Lead student placements, ensuring a positive learning environment, and support staff nurses in teaching and assessment.
• Support junior staff and complete supervisions and appraisals.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,303 and a maximum payment of £2,198) (pro rata for part time staff).
