Applicants must have completed their training in the UK and be at least Foundation year 2. The position offers a balanced involvement in teaching and self-directed learning, with opportunities for audit and research involvement. Teaching will be conducted across multiple hospital sites, with elements of pastoral care integrated into the role.
We are looking for an engaging and motivated doctor to join our friendly Undergraduate Education Team.
The rare opportunity has arisen for a 6 month teaching post, supporting small groups of UK and international medical students.
This Clinical Teaching Fellow post is a 50/50 split between Undergraduate obligations and self development.
Applicants must have completed their training in the UK and be at least Foundation year 2.
The main expectation is to teach medical students in their 3rd year of medical school. This includes bedside, clinical skills, case based discussions, tutorials and exam prep.

Our CTF's look after their student groups holistically, from induction, scheduling, teaching, any pastoral needs, and general support. St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000‑strong workforce.

They will also liaise with different teams and provide necessary inductions and pastoral care.
This CTF role also has obligations to teach international students and final year students, but on a smaller scale.
Annual leave on the important dates like inductions on the first day of student placement are strongly discouraged.
Although the post is based at Epsom Hospital, the post holder will be expected to teach at all sites within the Trust and occasionally at St George’s Hospital. This role may also be required to plan, organise and facilitate OSCEs both as part of the student's final assessment for their core rotations at Epsom and for the Trust’s involvement with OSCE Workshops. There could be occasions whereby they are asked to support the FY1 teaching programme in the Trust. Although uncommon, there may be the possibility for weekend or evening teaching in conjunction with promotional events held but notice will be given several months in advance.
