Job description

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and innovative nurse with enthusiasm and experience to join our Complex Needs Continence Team. This fixed term role has been created to enable the existing service to transform and extend it's reach, offering complex needs children aged between 2-5 years old access to continence and toileting support. A secondment into this post will be considered for the successful applicant. If the project is evaluated successfully there is the potential for recurrent funding, creating a permanent position.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be an integral part of a team that sits within the wider Children's community nursing service, working together to deliver this specialist service to children and families across the primary/secondary care interface. You will bring excellent communication, clinical skills and a desire to maintain and role model a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to inspire our workforce.

In partnership with members of the multidisciplinary nursing team the post holder will develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service for children and young people requiring continence and toileting support within the community, ensuring that children and families receive the highest standard of holistic care. They will work alongside a lead specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the Children's Community Nursing service, providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients.

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. Also ensures the safety and well-being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person‑centred care principles.

This fixed term role has been created to enable the existing service to transform and extend it's reach, offering complex needs children aged between 2-5 years old access to continence and toileting support.

The successful candidate will be involved with nurse‑led clinics, training, the delivery of health promotion and toileting advice, supporting children and young people with Complex Needs, wherever possible to achieve their potential.

They will act as a resource for expert advice for other healthcare professionals and must be competent to deliver health promotion and education to parents, their families and others.
