A modern district general hospital in Great Yarmouth is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The position offers responsibility for clinical and administrative tasks within a supportive team, alongside opportunities for teaching and career progression. Applicants should possess an MBBS, GMC registration, and relevant competencies. As part of the role, you will manage day-to-day ward routines and support junior trainees. The position includes participation in the on-call rota and regular consultant clinics, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Applications are invited to apply for a Clinical Fellow in our friendly and supportive team in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the James Paget University Hospital. This modern District General Hospital has approximately 500 beds and is situated in a coastal holiday area of East Anglia. It serves a population of 250,000 that increases considerably in the summer months.
Our Consultant team has recently been expanded and we are recruiting into one additional Senior Clinical Fellow post to increase our Tier 2 team to ten. This additional role will ensure we have appropriate cover for the rota commitments and also improve the level of support our Tier 2 team are able to provide for the clinical work within the service.
Applicants will be responsible for clinical and administrative roles within Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Additionally, the post holder will take part in the on‑call and out‑of‑hours rota (1:10) in line with the requirements of the department. There will be involvement in a regular teaching programme and opportunities for career progression.
The Obstetric and Gynaecology Service has a friendly and supportive team of Consultants, Medical Staff, Midwives, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals supporting around 1,800 births a year across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
The hospital is situated in Gorleston, 200 metres from the beach and picturesque countryside, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border close to the towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and within commuting distance from several small villages with affordable housing and local amenities. Residents enjoy a good quality of life with easy access to the Norfolk Broads and unspoilt coastline with opportunities for wildlife, walking, cycling and sailing. The historic city of Norwich is only 20 miles away with excellent schools, rail links to London and an international airport, for easy access to the Continent and beyond.
Our Trust is also on the path towards developing a new hospital over the coming years, working closely with the Department of Health and Care to deliver a modern, innovative health and care campus on our current site as part of the national New Hospital Programme.
Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service to observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust.
