Job summary

A leading NHS trust in London is seeking a Clinical Fellow (ST1/2 Level) in Cardiology to provide day-to-day care for cardiology inpatients. This position offers exposure to a variety of cardiology and medical conditions within a busy Heart Centre environment. Ideal candidates are medical trainees with completed Foundation competencies wishing to further their experience in Cardiology. Full shift rota includes weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• Completed Foundation (or equivalent) competencies.
• Intention to complete Alternative Certification for Stage I General Internal Medicine training or ST4 training for Cardiology.

Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust — Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group — CLINICAL FELLOW (ST1/2 LEVEL) IN CARDIOLOGY — Barts Heart Centre.

This Clinical Fellow (ST1/2 Level) post is based in the Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust. Barts Heart Centre is the heart attack centre for the region and provides invasive and interventional cardiology services, specialist cardiac imaging, electrophysiology services including device implants and ablation therapy for arrhythmia, grown up congenital heart disease, heart muscle disease and heart failure services. These posts therefore provide exposure to a wide variety of cardiology and medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care for cardiology inpatients, directly supervised by ward registrars and the consultant of the week.
• Be included in a full shift rota which includes weekday shifts, weekend shifts, and night shifts, supported by on-site registrars; rota is compliant with the European Working Time Directive.
• Gain exposure to a wide variety of cardiology and medical conditions within a busy Heart Centre environment.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Suitable for medical trainees who have completed Foundation (or equivalent) competencies who wish to gain further experience in Cardiology.
• The year-long post would be ideal for a trainee who has Core Medical (or equivalent) competencies who intends to complete Alternative Certification for Stage I General Internal Medicine training or ST4 training for Cardiology.
