Job description
Overview

This is a clinical post based in the Department of Gastroenterology at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals. It is ideal for candidates who have completed or are completing their training in Gastroenterology and wish to gain experience in advanced lower GI endoscopy. The Endoscopy Unit at Guy's and St Thomas' is JAG accredited and provides a wide range of diagnostic and interventional UGI, LGI and HPB endoscopic procedures. The post holder will be trained in advanced colonic lesion recognition (dye spray/NBI) and colonic endotherapy (standard polypectomy, hands-on EMR and observation of ESD) and will deliver endoscopy service lists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in the lower GI MDM and will coordinate our fortnightly polyp meeting.

  • Outpatient activity will include 1-2 clinics and one virtual clinic.
  • They will also participate in rotation of the delivery of weekend endoscopy and in the on-call rota.
  • Additional educational opportunities, depending on the post-holder training needs, will be available in other areas of Gastroenterology, such as advanced inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition, capsule endoscopy, and enteroscopy.
  • Contribution to the team research portfolio will be encouraged.
  • The post holder will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, including educational supervision of medical students.
