Overview

We are pleased to be recruiting for a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist for a Band 7, 12 month Fixed Term post in the Tower Hamlets Psychological Therapies Service (PTS).

PTS is a friendly and supportive team, highly committed to providing effective treatments to adults with complex difficulties, including depression, anxiety and trauma. We are looking for someone who can provide specialist assessments and individual and group interventions in line with their competencies. Experience of working in more than one modality including CBT, Psychodynamic, MBT, DBT, EMDR, CFT and the capacity to integrate models is welcome. Our service model aims to meet the needs of the local population through working closely with the locality neighbourhood teams, including the complex emotional needs and personality disorder services. The post holder will be working predominantly in person in the service, however, a small, remote working component may be accommodated.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessments and interventions for clients referred to the psychological therapies service.
  • Deliver both individual therapy and co-facilitate group interventions in line with professional competencies.
  • Work closely with locality neighbourhood teams to develop care pathways, manage risk and facilitate psychological therapy and psychologically informed care for the local population.
  • Develop and support the psychosocial work of other staff through teaching, training, supervision and consultation.
  • Provide specialist advice to NHS and voluntary sector agencies concerning assessment, treatment and management of service users.
  • Follow defined practices and procedures under the management and co-ordination of the Operational Lead; work autonomously within professional guidelines and govern psychological practice.
  • Participate in CPD and other developmental activities, keeping up to date with relevant psychological research and national guidance (DoH, NICE, etc.).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential
    • Doctoral Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology with full HCPC registration
  • Experience
    • Experience of providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions to service users with a range of complex problems and clinical presentations including complex trauma
    • Experience of assessing and managing risk in secondary care settings
  • Desirable
    • Post qualification experience
    • Clinical competence in more than two of the following: Psychodynamic, CBT, MBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, CFT
  • Knowledge
    • Knowledge and awareness of social inequalities and the potential impact of discrimination and disadvantages on mental health
  • Desirable
    • Advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of group interventions
