A leading healthcare organization in Liverpool is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to support day-to-day service delivery in a forensic psychology setting. The role includes assisting with psychological assessments, scoring psychometric tools, and contributing to research and service development initiatives. Ideal candidates will have relevant qualifications in psychology and experience in assessment and intervention under the supervision of qualified staff. The post will be centred on assisting the team with psychological assessments and interventions. This will involve observation and team discussion, support and co‑facilitation of group interventions, carrying out formal assessments with the guidance of qualified staff and scoring and organising psychometric assessment tools.
The role also involves service development activities, including literature searches, audit, data management and assisting with primary research, including evaluation of developing therapies. You will be a part of various newly developing innovative services and interventions.
You will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge in the application of psychological interventions to the reduction of criminal behaviours and develop your understanding of a range of mental health difficulties and therapeutic models.
The post involves some time working at HMP Wymott and some time in the community arm of the service.
Applicants should have qualifications and experience suitable for psychological assessment and intervention under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. The role requires working with adults who pose a risk of serious re‑offending as well as those seeking help to prevent first‑time offending.
Applicants will be required to hold a suitable DBS, and will need to subscribe to the DBS Update Service if they work in Children & Young People services. Applicants with a prior sensitised DBS may contact the DBS Sensitive Applications Team if they wish to conceal previous identity details.
