Butler Rose is delighted to be working with a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy firm in the Bolton & surrounding areas who are looking to add an experienced Client Bookkeeper to their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you have strong cloud accounting experience and if you are looking for a stable, office-based role within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

The firm will consider candidates from either an accountancy practice or commerce and industry background, provided you have hands‑on experience managing bookkeeping responsibilities across multiple clients or business units.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for providing accurate and timely bookkeeping services for a diverse portfolio of clients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping using cloud-based platforms
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with MTD legislation
  • Performing bank reconciliations, journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Communicating with clients to obtain and clarify information as needed
  • Working across multiple cloud accounting systems including Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent
  • Assisting with management reporting and supporting senior team members when required
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We're looking for someone who is confident, organised, and technically strong with:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
  • Background in either an accountancy practice or commerce/industry setting
  • Proficiency with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent)
  • Solid knowledge of VAT and digital record‑keeping compliance
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • Must be within commutable distance of the office - this is a fully office‑based role
