About the Role

Sizewell C Project Controls is the centre of excellence for performance management, enabling successful delivery of the SZC Project through proactive, forward-looking solutions.

Reporting to the Head of Civils Works PMO, this cross-cutting role works with Programme Controls Managers, Schedulers, Cost Managers, Reporting and Risk Managers across the Civils Works Programme (CWP). As Programme Controls Manager, you will own and drive Project Controls across one or more sub-programmes, ensuring alignment with SZC's governance model. You'll lead deployment, assurance, and continuous improvement, championing innovation and supporting SZC's ambition to be "Digital by Default" in Project Controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the sub-programme Project Controls team (Schedule, Risk, Cost, Change, Reporting & Insights).
• Collaborate and assure CWA programme controls activities across sub-programmes.
• Support the Head of Civils Works PMO in delivering world-class Project Controls, setting industry benchmarks.
• Implement best practice principles across integrated project controls: schedule, cost, risk, baseline, change, and reporting.
• Deputise for the Head of Civils Works PMO at key project meetings when required.
• Establish, implement, and maintain Project Controls systems, tools, and processes.
• Drive PMO-led activities such as annual budget planning, schedule deep-dives, and estimate completion updates.
• Liaise with the supply chain, ensuring quality assurance of Project Controls information.
• Accountable for timely and accurate month-end performance reports.
• Implement effective lines of defence assurance processes.
• Represent SZC externally, ensuring it is recognised as an exemplar in Project Controls.
• Coach and support senior Project Controls resources, fostering a culture of excellence.

Line Management

You will directly manage a team of Project Controls professionals across cost, schedule, risk, change, and reporting. Over time, your leadership responsibilities may expand further as the programme evolves.

What You'll Bring

Essential

• Proven experience as Programme/Project Controls Manager on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects.
• Track record of delivering Project/ Programme Controls across multiple functions: cost, estimating, scheduling, change, and risk.
• Strong knowledge of earned value analysis.
• Degree (or equivalent) in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering, or project management.
• Experience managing teams in a matrix structure and engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and deliver multiple Project/ Programme Controls activities.
• Exceptional presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a solutions-focused mindset.

Desirable

• Active membership of AACE, PMI, APM or similar professional associations.
• Proficiency in reporting and analytics tools, especially Power BI.
• Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contract types.
• Experience in the nuclear sector.

The Sizewell C team is one of the most exciting and largest new megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. We have begun constructing a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast in the East of England replicating, wherever possible, the design used for Hinkley Point C, another nuclear power station being built in Somerset.
