Civil Engineer – Highways & Drainage - Leeds

Location: Leeds

Salary: £37,000 – £45,000

Experience: 3–7 years

A leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer with a strong background in highways and drainage design to join their growing Leeds team. You’ll work on a wide portfolio of UK infrastructure projects, supporting local authorities, developers, and national frameworks.

What you’ll be doing

• Delivering design work for S278, S38, S104 and wider infrastructure schemes
• Producing highways and drainage designs from feasibility through to detailed design
• Working with DMRB, local authority standards, and active travel guidance (LTN 1/20)
• Producing drawings, reports, and technical documentation
• Coordinating with internal teams across structures, transport planning, and environment
• Supporting senior engineers and mentoring juniors where appropriate

What they’re looking for

• 3–7 years’ experience in civil, highways, or drainage engineering
• Strong knowledge of UK design standards (DMRB, SuDS, local authority guidance)
• Experience with Civil 3D or AutoCAD, and drainage software such as MicroDrainage / Causeway Flow
• Ability to deliver highway geometry, drainage layouts, and general civil engineering details
• Good communication skills and experience working with public-sector or consultancy clients
