Job description

Our client provides specialist residential care for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Their mission is to create safe nurturing environments where children can heal grow and thrive. We use a trauma-informed child-centred approach supporting every child through personalised care education and life skills development.

As the Registered Childrens Home Manager youll lead one of their homes with empathy professionalism and integrity. Youll oversee daily operations guide a passionate team and ensure the home operates in full compliance with OFSTED regulations. Most importantly youll play a vital role in transforming the lives of the young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring a high-quality and nurturing residential environment.
  • Lead, motivate and support a dedicated care team through effective supervision and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with OFSTED and all relevant childcare legislation.
  • Build strong supportive relationships with children, families and professionals.
  • Develop, review and monitor personalised care and behaviour management plans.
  • Promote safety, wellbeing and development for every young person in your care.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years recent experience as an OFSTED Registered Manager in a childrens residential setting.
  • NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
  • Strong understanding of EBD trauma-informed practice and safeguarding legislation.
  • Proven leadership, organisational and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, families and professionals.
  • High emotional intelligence, empathy and resilience under pressure.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).

Required Skills

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who blends empathy with excellence and who thrives on building something meaningful from the ground up. Essential: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted-registered childrens home (EBD or similar). Proven track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings. Strong understanding of Childrens Homes Regulations and Quality Standards (2015). Robust safeguarding knowledge and ability to implement effective systems and processes. Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills. Desirable: Experience supporting children with EBD trauma or attachment difficulties. Previous involvement in registering or setting up a new childrens home.
