Job Title: Children’s Social Worker – Family Support Team

Job Type: Locum – Ongoing
Hours: Full-time
Hourly Rate: £36.16 per hour

Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Children’s Social Worker to join the Family Support Team in Barry. Following recent expansion to meet growing demand, the team is seeking committed professionals to support families with long-term plans focused on minimising risk to children and building resilience. You will play a key role in planning, reviewing, and safeguarding children receiving care and support, including those subject to child protection plans or involved in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored plans that reflect the specific needs of children and their families, promoting safety and wellbeing
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, and their families to understand what matters most to them
  • Collaborate with family aides, social care officers, and business support colleagues to deliver integrated care
  • Oversee planning and review processes for children in need of care and support or under child protection
  • Manage complex caseloads, sometimes involving court proceedings, with professionalism and care
  • Be based at the Docks Office in Barry and travel throughout the Vale of Glamorgan as required

Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales (or ability to register)
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families in a statutory setting
  • Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding processes, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel
