Job Title: Children’s Social Worker – Assessment Team
Location: Devon (Hybrid: Office & home-based, subject to service needs)
Vacancies: Countywide
Pay Rate: £38 per hour

Liquid Personnel is seeking experienced social workers to support our client’s Children and Young People Assessment Team in Devon. This is a fantastic opportunity to build meaningful and positive relationships with children, young people, and families—working closely with them to achieve outcomes that are family-led, strength-based, and focused on safety and stability, keeping them safe throughout childhood and beyond.

Our client is currently operating under an Ofsted Improvement Plan; therefore, they require experienced, resilient social workers who demonstrate good practice and can model this across the service alongside peers.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and screen referrals from professionals, families, or the public.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine risk levels and service eligibility.
  • Make decisions on whether cases require further intervention under Section 17 (Child in Need) or Section 47 (Child Protection).
  • Undertake home visits and interviews with children and families.
  • Liaise with police, schools, health services, and other agencies to gather information.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for further action.
  • Escalate cases to child protection teams when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely responses to referrals.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Social Work England registration
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
