Job Title: Children’s Residential Home Manager Ref: Bradford 5276105 Pay rate: £321.29 per day PAYE Role length: Anticipated 3 months Working arrangements: Must be able to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays as required by the needs of the service DBS requirement: An Enhanced DBS is required for this role
The role: We are seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated Registered Manager to lead one of the Children’s Residential Homes, ensuring it meets and exceeds the expectations of Ofsted and provides exceptional care to children and young people with complex needs, including those who have experienced early trauma and attachment difficulties. This is a key leadership position, requiring a strong understanding of residential childcare regulations, therapeutic approaches, safeguarding practices and team development. You will be committed to delivering high-quality care that supports children and young people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities
- To act as the Registered Manager of the Children’s Home in accordance with Ofsted registration requirements, the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and the Quality Standards
- Ensure the home operates to the highest standard
- Take full responsibility for the leadership, management and development of the home and its team, creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment
- Lead on the design and implementation of dynamic, creative care plans that support children and young people with complex needs, including challenging behaviour, trauma and risk-taking behaviours
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding responsibilities and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home
- Provide clear leadership, guidance and development opportunities for staff, including regular supervision, performance appraisals and ensuring all training (including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention - TCI) is up to date
- Undertake Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 responsibilities, including leading inspections and completing quality of care reviews with robust action plans
- Oversee all aspects of daily care provision, ensuring that children’s racial, cultural, linguistic, religious and dietary needs are met, and they are supported to access education, health care and recreational activities
- Maintain high standards in the physical environment of the home, ensuring health and safety compliance, cleanliness, and a homely atmosphere
- Support the emotional well-being and resilience of staff, particularly following incidents involving challenging behaviour. This includes debriefs, reflective practice and maintaining staff well-being
- Champion the voice and rights of children and young people, ensuring their views shape the care and services provided
What the client is looking for
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services with Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
- NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services
- In the past five years, you have spent a minimum of two years in a role directly related to the residential care of children and completed at least one year in a position involving the supervision and management of staff engaged primarily or exclusively in providing care for children.
- Experience of care planning and quality assurance commensurate with the Registered Manager role
- Substantial experience of direct work with children and young people and their families
- Excellent communication skills
