Overview

Deputy Manager Residential Childcare (Children's Home)

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: £37,000 per annum, plus sleep-in and overtime enhancements

Hours: 40 hrs per week, mostly Mon–Fri (9am–5pm), plus 13 sleep-ins per annum and on-call duties

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and inspire a team of Childcare Practitioners.
  • Champion the wellbeing, safety, and development of every child.
  • Ensure the home runs smoothly day-to-day operations, care planning, managing team and rosters, admin, compliance, and being Ofsted ready.
  • Build strong relationships with families, professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Role-model therapeutic care practices, such as PACE, play therapy, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Act as a key decision-maker in crisis situations and offer support when it matters most.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in residential childcare.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3/4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge: Strong grasp of Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards & safeguarding protocols.
  • Skills: Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal English; organised, with good IT skills.
  • Approach: Resilient, inclusive, reflective, emotionally intelligent and team-focused.
  • Location: Based in Bournemouth, Head Office in Ringwood; a valid UK driving licence is required.
