Hunger and poverty are affecting children’s ability to concentrate and engage in their school learning. Hunger can lead to lethargy and sometimes disruptive behaviour, which can reduce engagement in the classroom.
Breakfast Cafes provide a drop-in service that offers a healthy breakfast before school (ranging from cereal, toast, fruit and yogurts). Breakfast Cafes are not registered childcare provisions.
Operational hours are 7.45am–9.00am, with children attending from 8.00am.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration. If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you are registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile.
If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
