Job description

Our client a well-established local Hotel and Restaurant are looking for a Chef to join their successful team.

With a great reputation for quality food and service they are now looking to expand their kitchen brigade. Previous chef experience is preferred and desirable, but we’re open to candidates who can demonstrate the right skills, confidence, and ability to perform the role.

You will be working with a great team using fresh ingredients creating dishes for the restaurant and banqueting room catering for up to 100-120 people.

Working hours up to 40 hours including evenings, weekends, and occasional split shifts.

Pay Rate between £14.00ph -£16.00ph depending on experience.

Relevant experience or qualifications and food hygiene certificate required.

This is a permanent position so any successful applicants will have to complete a successful interview

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with daily food preparation and service,
  • Assisting Head chef in preparation of food for restaurant and banqueting room
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff,
  • Ensuring all food items meet the restaurant's high standards .
  • Adhering to and enforcing strict hygiene and food safety regulations, including conducting temperature checks, proper ingredient storage, and maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients to minimise waste (FIFO), and placing orders with Head Chef as needed.
  • Assisting with creating new recipes, refining existing dishes, and suggesting seasonal menu changes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Ideally, previous experience in a professional kitchen environment, with the ability to demonstrate strong practical skills and confidence in a busy service
  • Experience working with fresh ingredients and producing dishes to a consistent standard
  • Background in restaurant and/or banqueting operations is desirable
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) required
  • Relevant culinary qualifications (NVQ or equivalent) beneficial but not essential if skills can be demonstrated
