Job description

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

CERT/CEN Team Manager

The closing date is 29 January 2026

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and forward‑thinking Team Manager to provide day to day management and leadership to our new Community Enablement & Recovery Team (CERT) and Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Pathway. These specialist services support people with severe and enduring mental health needs and those who attract a diagnosis of personality disorder, using trauma‑informed, evidence‑based interventions to improve outcomes and quality of life.

CERT and CEN offer specialist assessment, therapeutic interventions, and recovery‑focused support to individuals with complex mental health needs. Our aim is to empower people to develop confidence, independence, and meaningful recovery goals—while reducing crisis presentations, unplanned admissions, and inpatient bed use as part of an MDT.

You will be responsible for the ongoing day‑to‑day management and development of these specialist complex services ensuring that the service operates in line with national guidance related to Community Rehabilitation and delivery of the Complex Emotional Needs pathway as stated in the Operational Policy; and developing/maintaining a service ethos which underpins the Trust's Vision & Values and Trust's Quality Priorities.

Main duties of the job

As Team Manager, you will be responsible for:

Operational Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Leading, developing, and managing the CERT and CEN services to ensure high‑quality, trauma‑informed care.
  • Ensuring effective resource management—human, financial, and physical—to deliver services efficiently and meet agreed targets and standards.
  • Embedding and upholding professional standards, regulatory requirements, and quality measures across both teams.

Clinical Governance & Supervision

  • Overseeing care coordination and ensuring robust caseload management.
  • Providing professional guidance, support, and supervision to team members across disciplines.
  • Championing safe practice, positive risk management, and high‑quality person‑centred care.
  • Strengthening links with CMHTs, Crisis services, inpatient teams, social care, and external partners to maintain continuity of care.
  • Supporting system‑wide efforts to reduce out‑of‑area placements, prevent admission, and improve patient flow.

Service Improvement

  • Driving innovation, service development, and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the implementation of trauma‑informed, evidence‑based interventions that improve patient outcomes and experience.
