Job description

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a CBM Engineer, Vibration & Lubrication, to join Thames Water. The role holder will assist in the development and continuous improvement of the vibration condition monitoring strategy as an integral part of the maintenance strategy. This role is critical to driving a new, systems-led, proactive maintenance approach; a key part of our AMP8 plan.

You will form strong relationships with operational teams to drive the delivery of the condition monitoring plan and any resulting maintenance. You will work with the project team to advise on the condition monitoring requirements and technical specifications of equipment.

What you’ll be doing as a CBM Engineer Vibration & Lubrication
  • Conduct routine vibration-based condition monitoring analysis on critical assets.
  • Create reports and recommendations for Operations and Asset Management.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance regimes based on long-term data trends.
  • Perform technical appraisals on assets and recommend appropriate condition-based maintenance regimes for cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure efficient data collection routines and database updates.
  • Follow through on condition-triggered work to completion, visiting sites as needed.
  • Conduct lubrication surveys and recommend actions to extend asset life.
  • Support operations with thermography processes.
What you should bring to the role

Essential criteria:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Vibration analysis (BINDT or Mobius) Level 2.
  • Experience in capturing, analyzing, and reporting vibration condition monitoring data.
  • Experience creating assets, points, and routes within vibration analysis software.
  • Engineering experience in operational/maintenance environments.
  • Confidence leading technical discussions on condition monitoring.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present technical info to non-technical audiences.
  • A full UK Driving licence is essential.

Preferred additional skills:

  • Thermography analysis (BINDT or Mobius) & Machine lubricant analysis (ISO 18436-4, I) Level 1.
  • Lubrication specification and recommendation experience.
