Job Title: Catering Assistant

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 3:00pm
Working Weeks: 36 working weeks per year, plus 4.328 weeks paid holiday
Salary: £12.21 per hour / £17,234.18 per annum

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Catering Assistant to join our busy catering team at WQE's Regent Road campus in Leicester. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment - with the benefit of regular weekday hours and no weekend or evening shifts.

You'll play a key role in the preparation and service of food, customer interaction, and ensuring our dining areas remain clean, welcoming, and well-stocked throughout the day. Full training is provided, and we encourage all staff to develop a wide range of skills across kitchen and front-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages, including sandwiches and cold food items
  • Operate tills and handle payments
  • Provide friendly, efficient customer service
  • Assist with restocking and maintaining food displays
  • Carry out general cleaning duties in both kitchen and front-of-house areas
  • Follow stock rotation and food safety procedures
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure smooth daily service

What We're Looking For

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Previous catering or kitchen experience is helpful, but not essential - full training will be provided
