A regional health provider in England is seeking a Casual Mental Health Assistant. This role involves providing basic nursing care under supervision and requires flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends. Candidates need experience in older persons' health care and excellent communication skills. Required qualifications include Year 11 NCEA level 1 English and Maths. As a Mental Health Assistant your role is to work with the team to provide basic nursing care under the supervision and direction of Registered Nurses. This can include working with challenging behaviours.
As this is a casual position, covering staff leave and periods of peak service demand, it will be important that you have the flexibility and availability to cover a range of shifts, sometimes at short notice. You'll be required to work across morning, afternoon and night shifts. This includes weekends and school holidays. Some forward planning and rostering will be available when covering planned leave.
The Older Persons’ Mental Health Inpatient Unit, at Alexandra Hospital in Richmond, provides psychiatric and geriatric care for the older members of our community. We aspire to provide high quality inpatient care to patients with acute mental health needs and/or complex age related health conditions. We work in partnership with our patients, their families, the clinical team and community carers and supports to achieve the best possible health outcome for the patient.
