Job Summary

Carpenter Multi‑Trader – £22.02 per hour – Long term contract – Working for a Maintenance Contractor – Based in Coventry – Must have own van and tools (Mileage paid).

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Carpenter Multi‑Trader to join a busy social housing maintenance team working across properties in the Coventry area. This is a long‑term fixed‑term contract position carrying out a mixture of day‑to‑day repairs, planned works, and general maintenance within occupied and void properties. The ideal candidate will be a strong 2nd Fix Carpenter with reliable multi‑trade skills and the ability to work independently, delivering high‑quality repairs to a good standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completing carpentry repairs, renewals and installations in occupied properties
  • Undertaking multi‑trade works including plumbing repairs (like‑for‑like), tiling (mainly splashbacks), patch plastering, painting & decorating, general domestic repairs
  • Working towards a first‑time fix wherever possible
  • Planning and managing your own daily workload to meet contract SLAs
  • Logging works accurately on a PDA and completing daily job sheets
  • Ensuring all work meets high standards of safety and quality
  • Providing a professional, respectful service to tenants
  • Reporting any additional or follow‑on works required
  • Maintaining van stock, equipment and materials
  • Working independently or as part of a team when required
Essential Criteria
  • Experience working in occupied residential settings
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence (max 6 points)
  • Ability to work independently across a dispersed housing patch
  • Own van and tools (Mileage paid)
  • Covering properties in the Coventry area
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous social housing repairs experience
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or time‑served equivalent
  • Experience using a PDA
  • Understanding of responsive repairs and maintenance environments
  • Knowledge of SOR codes
